Whether avocados are a trend or not… Avocados are good for the mind, body, and soul. Now that it’s available for anyone to consumed, compared to when it was first discovered, this is something to be grateful for. Let’s take a look back at where avocados first originated.

Way back in 750 BC avocado seeds were buried in Incan tombs with mummies. But in 500 BC is was the Aztecs who gave it the name: āhuacatl, which translates to testicle. When the Spanish Conquistadores when swept through Mexico and Central America in the 16th century they decided they will rename it to avocado. Over the course of 100 years after that avocados remained predominantly in Central and  South America but no one really consumed the fruit even back then.  Fast forward to the early 1900s when avocados were introduced it was branded as a fruit only available to the royalties and wealthy, and when it first became commercialized it was branded as a delicacy for the wealthy. The avocado has a few names such as alligator pear, aguacate, butter fruit, and most recently green gold. The avocado is classified as berry/ fruit with a single seed inside and is deemed by the Guinness book of world records to be the world’s most nutritious fruit because of its the high density of nutrition it holds as wells as the many healthy benefits that it offers. The texture is buttery like and the taste is creamy neither salty or sweet but is the most versatile fruit with many culinary uses in sweet and savory foods and beverages as well as beauty supplies There are over 1062 different variations and over 80 different varieties.
